Job Shadow Week 2012

This job shadow week is a part of the Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board's Imagine Career Week, and YouthWorks is proud to announce American Eagle Outfitters Foundation as its signature sponsor! If you are a youth, YouthWorks' Job Shadow Week is the perfect opportunity to explore careers and learn more about the world of work, whether you know exactly what career you want or are still considering all of your options. As a Job Shadow participant, you will learn directly from a professional in an industry of your choice to catch a glimpse of what it's like to work in their field. Here's how to become involved:

1.) Apply: YouthWorks is currently taking applications to participate in this one-day Job Shadow experience. You can download the application, or you can request a paper application to be sent via U.S. mail. Please turn in your application by Thursday, March 1, 2012. Please note: you will be matched with your Job Shadow host based on what you indicate on your application, so fill it out completely.

If you are an employer, YouthWorks is seeking local professionals to host youth “shadows” for a day. Many think “my job isn’t interesting enough to have someone shadow me for a full day” but your job will likely be more interesting to a youth than you think. It will also provide critical exposure for youth to envision and prepare for their future career. Mentors also rave about the value they gain from directly interacting with the youth.

Please contact Tiara Whitfield at 412-281-6629, x208 or at thwhitfield@youthworksinc.org to sign up.
